SPDTs Innovate RF Switching In High-Power Wireless Systems

Sept. 12, 2013
SPDT switches offer 30 W power handling while enabling 82 dBm IIP3 @ 850 MHz and 76 dBm IIP3 @ 2.7 GHz linearity.

Peregrine’s PE42820 and PE42821 SPDT switches provide a combination of high-power handling and high linearity with an integrated approach that reduces board area, power consumption and design-in complexity. Suitable for transmit/receive, filter bank and antenna band switching applications in high-power RF systems such as wireless infrastructure devices and land mobile radios (LMR) for public safety and military environments, the switching ICs can also be used in replacing discrete solutions including traditional pin diodes used in LMR, and mechanical relays used in LTE-enabled small cells or distributed antenna systems. Enabled by the company’s UltraCMOS technology with HaRP enhancements, the ICs offer 30 W power handling while enabling 82 dBm IIP3 @ 850 MHz and 76 dBm IIP3 @ 2.7 GHz linearity. Operating with a 2.3 V to 5.5 V supply range, the devices also feature 0.35 from 30 MHz - 1 GHz, insertion loss of 0.20 from 1 - 2 GHz and 0.80 from 2 - 2.7 GHz, and an ESD of 1.5 kV HBM on all pins. Available now in sample and volume-production, PE42820/821 SPDT switches are supplied in RoHS compliant, 5 x 5 mm 32-lead QFN packages, with prices starting at $11.69 each/10,000.
