Unique Construction Boosts Sensitivity In Receiving Transponder Coils

Feb. 7, 2014
Two new additions to KOA Speer’s KT receiving transponder coils for low-frequency antennas offer precision tolerances of ±2%, 3%, or 5%, and inductance at 125 kHz between 1 and 12 mH (KT11835) or 1 and 7.6 mH (KTZ1030).

Combined with an operating temperature ranging between ‒40 and 125°C, the coils can deliver high Q and greater sensitivity. Their construction arranges the electrode in the long side of the body, which is covered with molded resin. Because neither the electrode nor the land pattern disturb the coil flux, the transponder coils feature sensitivity up to 75 mV/µT in low frequency around 125 kHz. In addition, four metal-plate electrode terminals help ensure a strong printed-circuit-board fixation, as well as strong resistance to vibration, shock, and the substrate bend test. Applications include security systems, RFID, animal and other wireless identification, medical engineering, and logistics tracking devices, as well as immobilizers, TPMS systems, and keyless entry/start for the automotive market.
