Hillsboro, USA: The Promentum ATCA-4500, a new AdvancedTCA (ATCA) single-board computer (SBC), will address functions for 4G applications including long-term evolution, WiMAX, network management systems, and IP multimedia subsystems. Developed by RadiSys Corp., the SBC takes advantage of Intel’s Xeon processor 5500 series.

The ATCA-4500 represents seventh-generation RadiSys ATCA blade technology.

It’s been optimised to meet telecom equipment manufacturer (TEM) requirements for integrating into an existing ATCA chassis and for supporting multiple storage options and OS virtualisation.

With the ATCA-4500 virtualisation solution, TEMs will be able to streamline the complexities of their network element configurations. In addition, porting of legacy application software and operating systems is possible, says the company.
