VCXO Can Handle 4G Wireless Applications

Cambridge, England: The VC40 high-frequency voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) from Precision Devices covers from 60 to 800 MHz, making it suitable for a range of applications including 4G wireless infrastructure, instrumentation, and other high-speed data applications.

To ensure accuracy, the VC40 can be adjusted by as much as ±100 ppm via the voltage adjustment pin over a tuning range of 0 to 3.3 V. Stability is from ±50 ppm over an operating temperature range of –40°C to 85°C.

The VC40 uses high-frequency fundamental (HFF) technology to generate frequencies up to 230 MHz with low phase noise. For higher frequencies, a phase-locked loop (PLL) is avoided, and analogue technology is used instead to provide good phase noise and jitter performance.

The device operates from a 3.3-V supply voltage and comes in a compact 14- by 9-mm surface-mount device (SMD) package. Also, it provides a four-pad low-voltage CMOS (LVCMOS) output or a six-pad dual complementary output that can be configured to operate at low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) or low-voltage PECL (LVPECL) levels.
