The AAV003-10E giant magneto resistive (GMR) current sensor combines a low-hysteresis GMR bridge sensor element with an on-chip current strap. Bridge output voltage is bipolar and proportional to the current through the strap over a wide -80 mA to +80 mA input range. Typical sensitivity is 1 mV per milliamp with a 12A supply and no amplification, which is reportedly much higher than Hall effect sensors. Maximum strap resistance is 0.35 Ohms and the output is independent of shunt resistance. Available in a six-pin, 2.5 mm x 2.5 mm TDFN package, pricing is $1.66 each/1,000.
