The ADT7461 dual-channel temperature sensor sports a wide default temperature range of 0°C to 127°C and can be configured with a remote sensor to extend that range to -64°C to 191°C. Its remote sensor has a resolution of 0.25°C and an accuracy of 1°C, while the local sensor provides a resolution of 1°C and an accuracy of 3°C. The device will automatically compensate for up 1 kilohertz of series parasitic resistance between sensor and recording circuits, eliminating the need for calibration in some cases. Measurement throughput is via a SMBus at speeds from 0.0625 to 64 conversions per second. Configurable functions include normal/standby, mask or enable alert, and configuration of the alert pin as a second fail-safe thermal-interrupt output. Available in eight-pin SOIC and microSOIC packages, price is $1.70 each/1,000. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643.
