Notebook computers using Pentium and Pentium II microprocessors are expected to be among the main beneficiaries of a new solution for cooling CPUs and related electronics. In addition to cooling the CPUs, these custom assemblies can cool hard drive and other chipsets, such as graphics drivers. The low-profile solution relies on a heat pipe from the notebook CPU to a heat exchanger as a chassis vent. Copper laminate is also designed in to spread heat. And if required, a small fan can be added to the cooling system. Prototype quantities are available.
