The bq3285LF real-time clock IC complies with the ACPI specs and also provides a century bit for Y2K compatibility. Other BIOS interface enhancements are said to provide increased software efficiency with the BIOS. The chip is aimed at applications in PCs, network controllers, and telecomm and medical gear. The device integrates standard and extended memory address bank latches to speed up clock and integrated RAM software access loops. The century bit also removes the need for the BIOS to perform this function. Intended for 3V operation, the clock IC also offers features such as alarm wake-up capability, 240 bytes of non-volatile memory, a 32-kHz output that's available for memory refresh and processor communication timing, and address index shadowing.
