Said to simplify design processes, the TMP411 ±1°C remote junction and local temperature sensor monitors thermal diodes found in CPUs, microprocessors, graphics processing units, and FPGAs. The device features programmable series resistance cancellation and diode non-ideality correction, which eliminates the process of individual processor resistance calibration common to remote diode monitoring. Its programmable over- and under-temperature thresholds and alert pins provide immediate response to dangerous conditions. The TMP411 operates on a standard I2C-/SMBus-compatible, 2-wire interface and offers 9- to 12-bit resolution over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C with a remote temperature range of up to 150°C. For reduced power, the sensor can be put into sleep mode, reducing consumption to 10 µA. In a MSOP-8 package, price is $1.75 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
