Debuting as a cost off the shelf (COTS) unit, the 7U 12R3 chassis boasts of an ultra-rugged design with intelligent system monitoring features. Its die-cast aluminum reinforced bezel, rope-coil isolators, air springs, and elastomeric isolators reinforce the unit, making it capable of handling 35g of shock for 11ms per MIL-STD-810E. The chassis provides a top-loaded card cage that holds up to 20 cards in variety of backplane architectures, including VME, VME64x, and CompactPCI. An intelligent system monitor, the SENTRY module allows users to program monitoring and recording parameters that include ac/dc voltages, over-temperature, and fan fail. The module is programmable with a battle-short feature that overrides the shut down protection protocol in the event of a crisis.
