Low Cost VCO Boosts SDH Radio Performance

Sept. 1, 2001
Introduced as a low-cost component for use in SDH microwave radio systems, the CLV1015E voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) generates frequencies from 995 MHz to 1,032 MHz from 0.6 Vdc to 5 Vdc control voltages. Measuring 0.5 in.2 x 0.22", the VCO

Introduced as a low-cost component for use in SDH microwave radio systems, the CLV1015E voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) generates frequencies from 995 MHz to 1,032 MHz from 0.6 Vdc to 5 Vdc control voltages. Measuring 0.5 in.2 x 0.22", the VCO tunes the 37 MHz bandwidth with an average sensitivity of 16 MHz/V. The component exhibits a spectral signal of -112 dBc/Hz typical at 10 kHz from the carrier while operating from a 4.5 Vdc supply and drawing 10 mA. Other features include a 1.1:1 linearity over frequency and temperature and an operating temperature range from -5ûC to +85ûC. In addition, it pulls less than 1 MHz with a 14 dB return loss during any phase. Price is $15.95 each. Z-COMMUNICATIONS INC., San Diego, CA. (858) 621-2700.
