Claiming to deliver best-in-class low-light performance for next-generation camera phones, the OV5630 debuts as the first 5 Mega pixel CameraChip sensor incorporating the company's proprietary 1.75-micron OmniPixel3-HS architecture. Also launched, the OV5633, a modified version of the OV5630, targets digital still camera and digital video hybrid camera markets. The OV5630 and OV5633 both employ OmniPixel3-HS technology, enabling a low-light sensitivity of 960 mV/(Lux-sec). They offer differing chief ray angles to suit specific lens requirements and support automatic exposure control, gain control, white balance, 50/60 Hz luminance detection, and black level calibration. Both sensors can output data in full 5 Mega pixel resolution at 15 fps, and record 720p high definition video at 60 fps or 1080p at 30 fps. In QVGA resolution, they can output data at 120 fps. For transferring image data, both sensors come with a two-lane MIPI interface. The OV5630 is available in COB or CSP packaging and the OV5633 comes in CLCC packaging. Both are sampling with volume production set for the fourth quarter. OMNIVISION TECHNOLOGIES INC., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 542-3000.
