Designed to accept a 0 to 50 mV differential input, the Model 8555 signal conditioner is compatible with most strain gage-based load cell or pressure transducer outputs. It can be used with a 0 to 50 mV single-ended input as well. Frequency output is designed to be compatible with PLC high-speed counter inputs. The 8555 employs a high-impedance, high-grade instrumentation amplifier. Amplifier input impedance is 1,000 MW. Output of the 8555 is a 0 to 5 kHz, 7 mA pulse with a 50 ms pulse width making it compatible with PLC high-speed counters. Resolution is 12 bits. The output is proportional to the 0 to 50 mV range so, for example, 50 mV on the input equates to 5 kHz on the 8555 output. The output is linear to 0.01% with an accuracy better than 0.1%. A built-in 10V excitation source is included for powering a load cell or strain gage. This supply gives enough current to power one 350W strain gage or load cell. The 8555 is powered off 24 Vdc, and is housed in a DIN rail mount package measuring 1.65" x 3.78" x 1.06" wide. Operating temperature ranges from 0°C to 55°C. Price is $125. CALEX MFG. CO.
