Withstanding autoclaving and irradiation sterilization, the company's custom medical cable assemblies employ color-coded WPI/Viking Thorkom circular connectors and are said to meet all stringent industry and governmental regulatory requirements. Promoted as low-cost components, the Thorkom connectors reside in a UL 94V-0-approved high-temperature thermoplastic housing and are CSA certified. They feature a high-precision screw machine contact design in addition to a one-piece housing. Assemblies are available with connectors in 7-, 12-, and 24-position plugs/receptacles and with MIL-SPEC, gold-plated, screw-machine (crimp, or PC-mount) contacts. Bulkhead and square-flange mounting styles and a range of back-shell and strain-relief options are also available. Additional features include Posi-Lok or V-Lok couplings, a contact current rating of 5A, maximum dielectric withstanding voltage of 1.5 kVRMS at sea level, an operating temperature from -55°C to +125°C, and an insulation resistance of 5 GΩ. Pricing for cable assemblies starts at $15 each while connector pricing starts at $1 each. CDM ELECTRONICS INC., Turnersville, NJ. (856) 740-1200.
