Expanding the B6TS capacitive touch-sensing IC family are eight- and 16-channel LF versions that promise significant reductions in development time. The devices measure floating capacitance through most insulating touch-panel materials, making them suitable for use in appliance, medical, commercial, fitness, and consumer products. They integrate detecting and processing functions into a single-chip microcontroller, easily programmable via the Workbench model B6TW, an intuitive tool providing design-to-function verification. The eight-channel B6TS-08LF in a QFP-32 package and 16-channel B6TS-16LF in a 52 pin TQFP also include two drift-compensation modes and a second touch-judging time feature. Prices are $2.28 and $3.11 each/1,250, respectively. OMRON ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS LLC, Schaumburg, IL. (847) 882-2033.
