Characterized by a unique two-piece design that separates the camera head from the processor, the new DXC-C33 is said to be the worldÕs smallest 1/3" 3-CCD camera. The remote-head color video camera also features digital video (DV) output, making it ideal for applications ranging from industrial inspection and microscopy to point-of-view sports shooting. The camera head measures just 32 mm x 38 mm x 40 mm and weighs only 48 grams, making it easy to install in space-constrained locations. In addition, the cameraÕs 1/3" 3-CCD sensor has a horizontal resolution of 850 TV lines, 768 by 494 effective pixels, and a 62 dB signal-to-noise ratio. Its illumination is 2,000 lux (min.) at F8. With the cameraÕs DV output terminal, users can record video signals to a compatible i.LINK (IEEE 1394) interface-equipped VTR without quality deterioration. The camera head can be connected to its processor unit with a flexible cable up to 100Õ in length. Besides i.LINK, output signals include Y/C, composite video and RGB. The camera requires a 100 to 240 Vac supply and costs $5,295. SONY ELECTRONICS INC., Park Ridge, NJ. (800) 686-7669.
