\[September 13, 2006\] With storage capacities up to 80 GB, the latest generation of the company's PMR family of short 1.8" hard-disk drives exhibits a 10% smaller footprint than its predecessors. The 4,200-RPM, single-platter 40-GB MK4009GAL and double-platter, 80-GB MK8009GAH measure 54 mm x 71 mm x 8 mm and 54 mm x 71 mm x 5 mm, respectively, and deliver data rates up to 356.8 Mb/s. They integrate a low-insertion-force connector, providing a format that allows for a pain-free migration to higher storage capacities in a smaller footprint.
