Providing over-voltage fault protection, the ROV series of metal oxide varistors (MOVs) are suitable for use in a wide range of power systems, including security systems, power supplies, and surge strips. The devices are available in diameters ranging from 5 to 20 mm and with voltage ratings from 18V to 1.8 kV. Radial-lead configurations are also available, and the MOVs can be supplied on tape-and-reel. In addition, many of the devices in the series have UL, CSA and VDE approvals. Depending on diameter and voltage rating, prices range from $0.03 to $0.30 each/100K. TYCO ELECTRONICS, Menlo Park, CA. (800) 227-7040.
