Designed to reside in Allen-Bradley's ControlLogix rack, the MVI56-GSC single-slot module allows system integrators to add ASCII serial communication connectivity to their ladder applications. For example, the module can be used to easily link ControlLogix industrial control platforms with barcode readers, scanners, scales, printers, terminals and many other serial devices. The MVI56-GSC module's two application ports permit both reception and transmission of data between ControlLogix and the devices. The module is said to use the ControlLogix's backplane in a unique fashion, with the data being sent between module and processor across the backplane using the module's I/O images.
