The LX304x and LX305x coplanar waveguide photodiode families target applications in 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, InfiniBand, vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL), and Sonet/synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) OC-48 and OC-192 systems. Based on gallium-arsenide (GaAs) and indium-gallium-arsenide (InGaAs) fabrication technology, the devices feature a 50-Ω characteristic impedance-matched design that minimizes electrical reflections and noise. They have 75-nm square anode and cathode pads that facilitate faster self-alignment for either wirebond or flip-chip assembly. Rated at 10 Gbits/s, the LX3044 single photodiode, the LX3045 1-by-4 array, and the LX3046 1-by-12 array are designed using GaAs for 850-nm datacom applications. Targeting 10-Gbit Ethernet systems are the LX3051 3.125-Gbit/s, 80-µm aperture device, the LX3050 12.7-Gbit/s, 32-µm aperture device, and the LX3052 12.7-Gbit/s, 32-µm 1-by-4 array. For the LX304x series, bare-die photodiodes start at $15 and 1-by-4 arrays start at $50. For the LX305x series, bare-die photodiodes start at $35 and 1-by-4 arrays start at $250. All pricing is for orders of 1000 units or more.
