Touted as the industry's lowest cost MEMS accelerometer, the ADXL311 employs the company's iMEMS, surface micro-machining technology. The dual-axis, ±2g transducer is capable of measuring both dynamic and static acceleration. Operating on a 3V supply, power consumption is 200 µA per axis. And the accelerometer is said to allow signals below 5 mg to be resolved for bandwidths below 60 Hz. Available in an eight-lead LCC package measuring 5 mm x 5 mm x 2mm, the device costs $2.50 each/10,000. For further information, contact ANALOG DEVICES INC., Norwood, MA. (781) 937-1428.
