Metal-Film Resistors’ Epoxy Coating Adds Moisture Protection

June 4, 2007
The epoxy conformal coating of IRC’s CMF Series of commercial-grade metal-film resistors gives them superior moisture for applications involving power supplies and industrial electronics.

A series of commercial-grade metal-film resistors from TT electronics IRC Wire and Film Technologies Div. features an extended resistance range of from 10 Ω to 1 MΩ with temperature coefficients of resistance down to ±100 ppm/°C. The CMF Series includes power ratings of 0.125 to 3 W and a standard tolerance of ±1%. Maximum working voltage ranges from 200 to 500 V, and dielectric withstanding voltage is from 400 to 1000 V, depending on the power rating.

The resistors use an epoxy coating that provides superior moisture protection. The conformal coating, along with their stable performance, makes the CMF Series suitable for applications involving power supplies and industrial electronics. The devices also feature low noise and use the standard EIA color-coding. A flame-retardant version is available. Typical pricing for the CMF Series is $0.0062 each for 1/4-W resistors in quantities of 75,000. Lead time is from stock to 6 weeks. For more information, go to www.irctt.com/commercial.
