Suitable for a variety of industrial applications, the J1 miniature joystick is operable via thumb or fingertip actuation and integrates into a larger, manual joystick for secondary tasks or into a control panel with limited space. Typical applications include vehicle uses such as crane control, teach-in functionality on industrial robots, or single special use functions on printing presses, packaging equipment, machine tools, or other machinery. The component measures 41 mm x 41 mm x 41 mm and employs non-contact sensor actuation. A magnet rotates around a Hall effect sensor within a sealed, IP67-class housing with the connector and lead wire. The mechanical components of the J1 also meet the requirements of IP56. Other features include a limit position with a maximum deflection of ±15º that is proximity actuated or latching, application-specific angle limits available on request, and an operating temperature range from -40ºC to +85ºC. Additionally, a special version of the J1 with a friction brake and actuation via button design is currently in production. ELOBAU SENSOR TECHNOLOGY INC., Lake Bluff, IL. (847) 615-0828.
