Termination and filtering of both processor and peripheral ports, along with providing ESD immunity for output pins to 8 kV (Human Body Model), are all made possible by Super 1284, a single chip that conforms to IEEE 1284 specs. Housed in a single, 28-pin QSOP package, the device reduces by 50% the amount of real estate required by the firm's previous, two-chip parallel port termination and filtering solution.Super 1284 is a high performance resistor-capacitor thin film-on-silicon network with 17 terminating lines per package. The network is designed to provide improved ESD protection for all I/O pins that may be exposed to ESD pulses.
