Debuting as the first UV non-solarizing optical fiber, Optran UVNS silica/silica fiber boasts long-term performance with 40,000 continuous, unfiltered hours of reliable transmission at 95% of the original output. The fibers deliver throughput over a wide range of wavelengths from 190 nm to 1,200 nm without solarization. They also promise high laser damage resistance, a broad temperature range, and a high core-to-cladding ratio. NAs of 0.12, 0.22, 0.28, or 0.3 are available with core diameters up to 2,000 mm. Employing biocompatible materials, the fibers provide a radiation resistance to 109 rad and are sterilizable. Special coatings are available for high temperatures, high vacuum, and to resist harsh chemicals. CERAMOPTEC INDUSTRIES INC., East Longmeadow, MA. (800) 321-0790.
