Taking title as the smallest spread-spectrum clock oscillator available, the 3HM53 Group R series measures 5 mm x 3.2 mm x 1.2 mm with a 4-pad ceramic surface-mount base that is a drop-in replacement for most existing 5 mm x 3.2 mm components. The oscillator operates at 3V with a fixed frequency range from 6 MHz to 160 MHz in both industrial and commercial temperature ranges. Other specs include a startup time of 2 ms and a typical jitter figure of ±250 ps. Additionally, the component is available with center spreads of ±0.25%, ±0.5%, or ±1.5%. Pricing is less than $2 each in volume quantities. MERCURY UNITED ELECTRONICS INC., Rancho Cucamonga, CA. (888) 310-8382.
