The heart of the CT10 series of molded sensors is a single-pole, single-throw reed switch with normally-open contacts. Containing two reeds, the switch can be actuated by an electromagnet, permanent magnet, or a combination of the two. Contact resistance is said to be stable at 115 milliohms even at power ratings up to 10W. A ruthenium contact layer is said to be responsible for a life expectancy up to one billion operations. The sensor measures 0.115" x 0.458" x 0.095" and is packaged on tape-and-reels. Price is less than $0.30 each/500,000. COTO TECHNOLOGY, Providence, RI. (401) 943-2686.
