Designed to boost performance of GSM and CDMA products (e.g., mobile phones and handheld devices), the VC-TCXO HFX series temperature-compensated crystal oscillators (TCXOs) maintain the standard 3.3- by 2.5- by 1.2-mm footprint. The devices employ analog transistors to reduce phase noise, which improves effective data rates on wireless handsets. Additional benefits include a built-in dc-blocking capacitor and low frequency consumption to improve battery life. To yield greater frequency stability, the oscillators incorporate measurement technology that guarantees more temperature points. Four versions are currently available, covering the oscillator frequency range of 13.0 to 26.0 MHz. All operate from −20°C to 75°C. The VC-TCXO HFX series oscillators cost less than $1.00 each in 100,000-unit volumes. Lead time varies from 14 to 16 weeks.
