Digitally Controlled Potentiometer Occupies Just 1 mm2

The X93154 32-tap nonvolatile digitally controlled potentiometer comes in an industry-standard MSOP and a flip-chip package with a 1-mm2 footprint. The chip features a total resistance of 50 kΩ, dissipates a maximum of 1 µA in standby, and has a typical differential nonlinearity of less than ±0.2 LSB. Unit pricing in lots of 1000 starts at $0.53 for the MSOP and $0.38 for the flip chip.

Synchronous Switching Controller Works Over Wide Input Range

The LM5642 is a two-phase synchronous switching controller that accepts a 4.5- to 36-V input voltage range. The controller operates in either a dual-output mode or in a bi-phase mode with a single output capable of twice the load current. Each output can be set to a value ranging from 1.3 to 13.5 V. The chip’s current-mode control loop can use either a discrete current-sense resistor or top-side n-channel MOSFET on-resistance sensing. Offered in a 28-pin TSSOP, the LM5642 costs $1.85 each in lots of 1000.

Modules Convert High-Efficiency Power Chips To Quarter Bricks

The VIC-in-a-Brick format adapts the company’s V•I chips to the footprint and pinout of a standard through-hole quarter brick. This configuration is available for certain V•I Chip models, including the recently introduced 48- to 12-V Bus Converter Modules (BCMs). These produce an isolated 12 V at up to 200 W. Up to two BCMs can be accommodated in the VIC-in-a-Brick format for a total of 400 W power output. VIC-in-a-Brick modules cost as low as 13 cents/W in OEM quantities.
