A new electronic bi-axial tilt sensor has been designed based upon force balance accelerometer technology. The SI-702B tilt sensor produces a high-level, low-impedance output proportional to the sine of the tilt angle. Electronic damping and desensitization circuitry allows tilt measurements along two perpendicular axes in strong vibration and shock environments. It is intended for applications such as platform stabilization, surface mapping and measuring tilt angles in remote locations and environments not permitting the use of the more traditional methods. Output circuit configuration is made for use in 4 mA to 20 mA data transmission systems. This system is used extensively in industrial installations in order to transmit data over long distances while avoiding interference from nearby power lines. A single +15V supply powers both the sensor and 4 mA to 20 mA line driver. COLUMBIA RESEARCH LABORATORIES INC., Woodlyn, PA. (800) 813-8471.
