Ruggedness and low capacitance drift are characteristics of the MKT film capacitors. Even after 1000 hours of testing at 85°C, 85% relative air humidity and 240 V ac, their maximum capacitance change is less than 10%. The MKT film capacitors (part of the B3293 series) cover a capacitance range from 0.1 to 10 µF and are designed for a nominal voltage of 305 V ac to IEC 60384-14. Their maximum operating temperature is 105°C. The types with capacitances of up to 2.2 µF have two safety certifications (IEC 60384-14 / EN 60384-14). Applications may be found in high-reliability environments such as automotive electronics, or applications in which an uncontrolled change in capacitance can result in circuit malfunction. This is the case in capacitive power supplies where the capacitor operates in series with the power network. These capacitors can also be used in outdoor installations thanks to their high resistance to humidity. The MKT film capacitors are especially well suited for home appliances, power meters and smoke alarms as well as for motion sensors and rolling shutters. EPCOS AG, Munich, Germany. +49 89 636 09.
