VCXOs Come In Frequency Ranges To 700 MHz

Sept. 18, 2006
The newest MVIP LVPECL oscillators from MMD employ inverted-mesa technology and AT strip crystals.

The latest addition to MMD's MVIP series of compact, low-jitter, low-voltage positive emitter-coupled logic (LVPECL) voltage-controlled crystal oscillators (VCXOs) feature frequency ranges up to 700 MHz. The oscillators use inverted-mesa and AT strip crystals. The inverted-mesa technology allows the VCXOs to meet the same shock and vibration levels as oscillators in the 20-MHz range and permits extended pull ranges of up to ±200 ppm at 700 MHz. The chemically etched AT strip crystals, operating in the fundamental mode, provide an excellent VC-frequency pull range and a low factory jitter in the 0.5-ps rms range.

The units can operate from -55°C to +125°C. They are available with tristate and LVPECL differential outputs an in operating voltages of 3 V and 3.3 V. The oscillators come in packages only 5 by 7 by 1.5 mm.
