Available in a SO-8 package or in a 1.40 x 2.00 x 0.50-mm chip form, the CYH-21 linear magnetic sensor is based on a vertical silicon Hall device onto which a magnetic flux concentrator has been integrated to provide a highly sensitive, bipolar output proportional to the field component parallel to the chip’s surface. Linearity is >±1% over a dynamic range of about 150G, with the flux concentrator reportedly increasing the magnetic field sensivity to about 0.25 mV/G and reducing equivalent device noise to about 8 nT/(sqrt(Hz)) at 10 Hz, or 1% of a typical low-noise linear Hall sensor with integrated amplifier. Nominal control current is 1 mA; power dissipation is about 5 mW; bandwidth is dc to 30 kHz (-3 dB); operating temperature range is -40°C to 110°C.
