Combining a short 1.5" deadband with transducer and microprocessor technology allows the SUPERPROX® Model SM607 series of 18-mm, ultrasonic proximity sensors to detect very small targets and surfaces. The sensors incorporate very high gain and speed to detect targets as small as 0.003" diameter as well as other tiny reflective surfaces.
The microprocessor allows the sensor to detect only the designated small target and ignore all other surrounding sonic interference. A sampling rate of 2000 SPS gives the device the capability of detecting small targets and surfaces moving past the sensor as close as 1.5" at a rate of 400"/s.
