Rated from 64V to 350V, the new Surgector Series of surface-mount thyristor circuit protection devices is specifically designed to protect telecomm equipment. Surgectors protect circuits from transient voltages induced or coupled into telecommunications equipment due to lightning.
The transient suppressors (TVSs) are designed to protect cable equipment, such as set-top boxes and cable modems and are packaged in a low-profile DO-214AA SMT package, which is small enough to fit into a PCMCIA modem. Performance specs include a sub-nanosecond turn-on time in 50A and 100A current ratings. Surgector TVSs comply with the requirements listed in UL 1950, Belcore 1089, CCITTK.20, and FCC Part 68. And pricing for the transient suppressors is $0.42 each in high volume quantities.
