Three families of sound makers—namely, buzzers, transducers and sirens—have been developed for use in electronic products. The piezo components tout clear sound output, low power consumption, small size, light weight, low frequencies, low current drain and high operating efficiency. They include: piezo ceramic buzzers in standard or feedback designs; ultra thin piezo speakers with broad bandwidths; piezo telephone ringers driven directly from ICs; piezo ceramic audio, external- or self-driven transducers with a variety of sound outputs; piezo audio indicators with different tones; and piezo sirens featuring high output ceramic sound generators. Options for the devices include PC mount or lead wires, flange mounting, washable enclosures, and many shapes, sizes and colors. Prices range from $0.25 to $2.00 each, depending on item, quantity and specifications.
