With an eye on the portable product market, the FTP-628 series printer mechanisms weigh approximately 47g in a compact, 15.5-mm profile. The printers can accommodate paper widths of 58 mm and paper thicknesses ranging from 60 to 100 µm. Effective print area is specified as 48 mm.Two models comprise the series: the FTP-628MCL053 with an automatic paper feeder, front paper-insertion path, and a platen-open release; and the FTP-628MCL054 with manual paper feed and a bottom paper-insertion path. Both units have an enclosed gearbox and a 30-conductor flex circuit that requires a single connector. And they both operate from a 4.2V to 8.5V battery. Employing a direct thermal line-dot method, the printers provide a resolution of 8-dots/mm (203 dpi) and a maximum speed of 60 mm/s. Operating life is 100 million pulses or 50 km of paper.
