VCO Seeks Low-Noise Cable Modem Systems

July 1, 2002
For demanding, low-noise cable-modem systems, the V585ME24 voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) exhibits a SSB phase-noise performance of -102 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset. Available frequencies span 1,568 MHz to 1,971 MHz within 1 Vdc to 20 Vdc of tuning.

Operating from a 10V supply, the oscillators can deliver 6.5 ±1 dBm into a 50 ohms load while drawing 16 mA typical. Other features include a temperature range of 0°C to 75°C, an average tuning gain of 33 MHz/V, and pulling to less than 10 MHz with a 14 dB return loss during any phase. Measuring 0.5 in.2 x 0.13", single unit protoyping price is $15.95. Z-COMMUNICATIONS, San Diego, CA. (858) 621-2700.
