Wireless server, internal gateway and VoIP markets are key application areas for two new CompactPCI carrier class enclosures built to meet NEBS Level 3 and Earthquake 4 requirements. The 2U and 4U enclosures feature a number of hot-swappable components, including power supplies, each with its own cooling fans, air-intake fan canisters, and exhaust fans. Several backplane options, including H.110 and 2.16 versions, are also available. The -48 Vdc input version is equipped with dual isolating diodes for central office environments, while the AC version allows the same product to be used in lab environs. The enclosures are equipped with front- or center-mount rack ears for 19" or 23" racks and can also be equipped with canisters containing bays for accepting two or four 3-1/2" hard disks. A separate backplane contains SCA connectors and termination resistors for easy installation of the drives. Price of the 2U carrier class enclosure is $2,083 each/100, while the 4U unit costs $3,018.
