IC Makes Accurate Temperature Measurements With Little Power

Equipped with single-wire, pulse width modulation (PWM) outputs, the TMP05 and TMP06 digital temperature sensors have a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C, with an accuracy of ±1°C from 0°C to 70°C. The TMP05 has a push-pull output (CMOS/TTL) while the TMP06 has an open-drain output. Both outputs are a square wave signal, with duty cycle proportional to the absolute temperature. The digital sensors can work with a 2.7V to 5.5V supply and offer three modes of operation: daisy chain, allowing any number of the ICs to be connected to a microcontroller; continuously converting; and one-shot mode, which reduces power consumption to 8.25 µW.
