Designed with the visual intelligence to emulate the human-eye spectral response range by excluding ultra violet and infrared regions, the APDS-9005 and APDS-9006 ambient-light photo sensors are said to significantly reduce power consumption and save battery life. Both components are analog-current output ambient light photo sensors with a peak spectral response of 500 nm. The APDS-9005 supports a voltage range from 1.8V to 5.5V, and the APDS-9006, 2.4V to 5.5V. Both can sustain temperature ranges of –40°C to +85°C. For either sensor, pricing begins at less than $0.40 each in moderate volumes. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, San Jose, CA. (800) 235-0312.
