Expanding the OvationONS laser navigation sensor family, the CYONS1001G employs the company’s patent-pending OptiCheck technology and targets applications such as gaming, graphic design, and position detection. The sensor integrates a detector and laser into an 8 mm x 8 mm QFN package with a snap-on lens design. The two-piece device also integrates laser eye safety management, eliminating the need for laser power calibration during mouse assembly. It simultaneously supports a speed of 50" per second and a resolution 2,800 counts per inch (cpi). Other features include a continuously variable resolution setting at any value between 400 and 2,800 cpi, cursor speed of up to 140,000 cps, position sampling rate to 40,000 samples per second, and a native 16-bit X and Y directional report rate from the sensor. Price is less than $6 each in volume. CYPRESS SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., San Jose, CA. (800) 541-4736.
