Introduced as the first microphone that enables high-definition (HD) voice quality in laptop PCs and other broadband mobile devices, the AKU2103 delivers a digital-output with guaranteed compliance to the TIA-920 requirement. Similar to the company's other microphones, the AKU2103 is a CMOS MEMS component with the mechanical transducer, output amplifier, and sigma-delta a/d converter integrated on a single chip. Reportedly, its single-chip construction, digital output, and a high power-supply noise rejection make the output virtually immune to RFI, EMI, and power-supply modulation. Measuring 4 mm x 4 mm in an under-mount package, the microphone provides a L/R select function that allows a single device to be configured as either a left or a right microphone. Specifications include a PSNR of better than -70dB and a sleep-mode current consumption of less than 20 µA. Samples will be available in the third quarter. AKUSTICA INC., Pittsburgh, PA.
