The latest line of PolySwitch circuit-protection devices provides resettable over-current protection for passenger vehicle and heavy truck wire harnesses. The PolySwitch bladed contact device features a 2.8-mm form factor to facilitate one-to-one replacement of mini-size fuses and Type II bimetal circuit protection devices in 12V vehicle systems. Unlike Type II bimetal circuit breakers, the PolySwitch BD280 device employs no-moving parts and a resistance switching action that latches immediately following a trip condition. Latching occurs even at lower battery voltages and low environmental temperatures. The BD280 is a constant wattage device, providing virtually constant power consumption across a voltage range of 4V to 14V. Operating temperature ranges from -40ºC to +125ºC and available current ratings include 10A, 15A, 20A, 25A, and 30A. Single-unit price is $1. RAYCHEM CIRCUIT PROTECTION, Menlo Park, CA.
