Claiming the best price/performance combination for high-frequency timing references up to 220 MHz, the company unveils the first family of low-jitter, low-power high-frequency crystal oscillators using its patented XP technology. XP technology uses an industry-unique quartz-plus-silicon integration technology to offer very low jitter, non-PLL-based oscillators covering the 150 MHz to 220 MHz frequency spectrum. The 2.5V/3.3V SX/SN series and 3.3V SD/SH series XP crystal oscillators exploit a proprietary technology that combines the company’s IC silicon technology and Saronix-eCera quartz technology. This pairing of technologies yields a typical jitter figure of 0.25 ps rms. The components are drop-in compatible with existing Overtone, SAW, and PLL-based oscillator topologies in four-pin, 5 mm x 7 mm (2.5V/3.3V SX CMOS Series), six-pin 5 mm x 7 mm (2.5V/3.3V SN PECL), and six-pin 3.2 mm x 5 mm (3.3V SD PECL Series) packages. Prices range from $1.30 to $3 each/100,000 depending on series, frequency, and stability. PERICOM SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., San Jose, CA. (800) 435-2336.
