Forecasting both space and assembly-time savings, Tyco’s reflowable thermal protection (RTP) device installs quickly using industry-standard pick-and-place and lead-free reflow equipment. Uniquely, the device withstands multiple reflow passes with peak temperatures exceeding 200°C. In the field, however, it opens when it detects temperatures above 200°C. The first device in the RTP product family, the RTP200R120SA (RTP200) device, helps users meet stringent AECQ specifications for automotive electronics. It replaces redundant power FETs, relays, and heavy heat sinks in automotive designs while also offering a robust protection in IT server, telecom power supply, and other industrial apps. Other features include a 1.2-m? series resistance and a dc-interrupt rating of 200A at 16 Vdc and 100A at 32 Vdc. Price is $0.48 each/1,000. TYCO ELECTRONICS LTD., Menlo Park, CA. (800) 227-7040.
