Heralded as the world’s smallest, the RV-4162-C7 real-time clock (RTC) module measures 3.2 mm x 1.5 mm x 0.8 mm and features a 1.3 to 4.4V operating range. Timekeeping functions operate down to 1V with a current consumption of 270 nA typical. Communications with other circuitry is via I2C. The component’s eight-pin ceramic package packs a 32.768-kHz crystal, CMOS-based oscillator, and real-time-clock circuitry. At room temperature, frequency and time keeping is within ±20 ppm. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C and aging rate is a maximum of +3 ppm for the first year. MICRO CRYSTAL, Buffalo Grove, IL. (847) 818-9825.
