A surface mount voltage-controlled crystal oscillator has been designed in new versions with low jitter. The GE62, GE64, GE575, GP62 and GP64 series VCXOs are supplied in 11 mm x 9 mm x 2.5 mm high, 6-pad SMD packages and are designed to provide stable and clean 100K compatible square wave output. These VCXOs incorporate an inverted MESA crystal blank that operates in fundamental mode throughout the frequency range. No PLL or overtone oscillator mode is used. With this arrangement, these VCXOs achieve a jitter of less than 1 ps RMS at 155.250 MHz on a -5.0V supply. Low jitter VCXOs are useful in SONET/SDH applications and with their inherently improved noise immunity, make systems less susceptible to ground noise. The VCXOs come in a range of standard frequencies from 19.44 to 250 MHz. ECL versions have input supply voltages of -3.3V, -4.5V, -5V or -5.2V at ±5%, while PECL versions feature input supply voltages of 3.3V or 5V at ±5%. Current consumption ranges from 54 to 85 mA depending on frequency and supply voltage. EUROQUARTZ LIMITED, Crewkerne, Somerset, UK. +44(0) 1460 230000.
