6-W DC-DCs Fulfill Strict Medical Equipment Standards

May 1, 2013
Fully approved to EN60950 and EN60601, MicroPower Direct’s MA600MHI series of 6-W dc-dc converters thus meet stringent isolation, reinforced insulation, and low-leakage requirements of medical-grade equipment

Fully approved to EN60950 and EN60601, MicroPower Direct’s MA600MHI series of 6-W dc-dc converters thus meet stringent isolation, reinforced insulation, and low-leakage requirements of medical-grade equipment. The family includes 12 models that operate from 2:1 inputs of 9 to 18, 18 to 36, and 36 to 75 V dc. Single and dual outputs are either 5, 12, ±12, or ±15 V dc. Efficiency pushes to 80%. I/O isolation measures 4000 V ac rms, and leakage current is 2 µA maximum. Short-circuit and overload protection, as well as input undervoltage shutdown, are incorporated. Mean time between failure is greater than 700 khours. The converters come in a miniature 24-pin DIP case; pinout is industry standard. Operating temperature ranges from −40° to +75°C ambient (no derating or heatsinking needed). Applications include industrial as well as medical equipment that require high isolation levels, safety/medical approvals, and robust filtering.
