Measurement Specialties’ 89BSD piezoresistive silicon pressure sensor, housed in a 316L stainless steel package, uses a backside, headerless design to achieve a compact 9 mm diameter. Providing temperature and pressure read-outs in high-performance applications, the sensor features a pressure range from 6 to 28 bar, available in absolute or sealed gage, and utilizes silicone oil to transfer pressure from the 316L diaphragm to the sensing element. The media-isolated sensor with a 24-bit ΔΣ ADC supporting an I²C interface protocol and threaded o-ring mounting design, is suited for precision pressure measurement applications including tank level, manifold and barometric pressure measurement, dive computers and sealed systems. The unit provides a total error band up to ±3% FSO and temperature accuracy of ±2°C over the full -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range, with 0.01°C temperature resolution. Power consumption is less than 1 mA with standby power of less than 0.15 mA, input voltage ranges from 1.8 V to 3.6 V, and long term stability is 0.2% span per year. Pricing for the 89BSD digital output sensor is $22 each/10,000.
